Church closed for public worship

9 January 2021

Dear all,

By order of His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas all the churches of our Archdiocese will now close for public worship with immediate effect and until further notice. Only one priest, one chanter and one altar server will be allowed inside the church. This measure is enacted to preserve human life and to help in stopping the spread of Coronavirus.

The faithful are asked to pray and ask God to send His healing grace upon the world and to be obedient to the Church, the government regulations and medical professionals.

The church doors will be locked and there will be no exceptions. Please do not turn up and start knocking on the door as we cannot let you in.

I urge all of you, although you are currently unable to attend the church service, still to keep the Lord's Day holy by saying prayers at home. Several Orthodox Churches from London will be broadcasting their services and this can be a source of comfort too.

If you wish to send names to be commemorated at the Divine Liturgy (either for the living or for the dead) please send them to my email address father.david@btinternet.com by Saturday evening.

The Lord bless you and keep you. Please inform those who don't use the internet.

Yours in faith

Father David
